A few were interested in a meeting with the club. Just never came together. If this is something the club would like to look into further I'd be willing to help!nondisclosed_email@example.com (spk57)Fri, 30 Aug 2019 14:32:23 +0000 Re: Crazy thought - think about it over a beerhttps://bamecmessageboard.runboard.com/p309239,from=rss#post309239https://bamecmessageboard.runboard.com/p309239,from=rss#post309239Maybe one of the dirt tracks would allow "cold weather racing". nondisclosed_email@example.com (rc vedder)Wed, 28 Aug 2019 15:18:39 +0000 Re: Crazy thought - think about it over a beerhttps://bamecmessageboard.runboard.com/p309234,from=rss#post309234https://bamecmessageboard.runboard.com/p309234,from=rss#post309234Hi Dave, funny thing is we owned 19 acres in Hagadorn Mills NY for almost 30 years but sold it after we needed the money. It wasn't a suitable piece of property for an ice race but we did run single car timed runs on it. We had about a 1/2 mile course through the trees. It was a fun deal and I bet we would have more people running cars on it now if we did it as opposed to when we used to do it back then. I think we might have more luck with finding a club member with land that we could lease or rent or just use. We seem to talk about trying this every year or two when it looks like we won't get ice. But if we can't make ice on a lake its almost as hard or harder to make it on the warm ground so it is always a tough one. We might be better off just doing a frozen dirt race like we did back in the 90's at the Adirondack International Speedway in Lowville NY. If it had the right topography, we could flood it in November and race every week until March. Would insurance be cheaper without the threat of falling through into a lake? Lots of things to consider, besides money for purchase, taxes, insurance, local approvals, finding an appropriate parcel of land, water source, and on and on.... Just thought it would be interesting to listen to the debate and see if it got any traction. Crazier things have happened.nondisclosed_email@example.com (dusher)Tue, 13 Aug 2019 14:35:18 +0000
