My Street Legal plans

Hello.

I was looking at my options for this season. I still do not have a trailer, so I will be driving to the events.
I have 2 red Hondas. The 91 4wd Wagon I ran in SLS4 in 2015. I have updated the suspension and engine over the year. I also have a 97 Civic coupe I ran in SLS in 2016.

I was going to run SLS4 again, but now that we can run full studs in SLM, I am considering it.
I would like to run the 4wd wagon in SLM, but my roll bar sits too low. It makes a good headrest.

The rollbar is a good fit in the 97 Coupe.
I plan on bringing it out at least once, in SLM trim.

Anyone else planning on running SLM ? I ran it a few years ago and it have 4 cars. The race was over the 1st turn. Not a fun time for the workers.

IS anyone one else thinking of running SLM?

Hi Mark, Mike Waterhouse says there are at least 3 or 4 guys planning to run SLM this year but you never will know until the first race.

I'll be running SL4 and SLM if I can get my Talon running. I'm inching my way closer to a running car but I still have a lot of things to sort out. Nevertheless I think it will be ready to race. I have 4 Menards mounted and ready to go!

Tonight I work on welding some tabs on the radiator fan shroud and wiring up the fans to the new fan controller.

I think people would realize pretty quick if I ran the Menards in SL4! If I tried really hard I could hold back and try to only win by a lap or two. That might not raise too many eyebrows.

I have 4 new Blizzaks that need to be mounted to use on the Talon.

It will take 3 or 4 tire changes to run both classes during the day but I think it will be worth it!

Re: My Street Legal plans

Greetings all, HNY
The kids and I dug up a relic from my old next door neighbor, Ed Huth, and are looking to get back out on the lakes in 2017.

We're wondering: is there a vintage class available? LOL, get ready: ...hoping to resurrect a late 70's Ford Fiesta (now there's a turn back of the clock...

Pulled it out of Ed's garage in a Detroit suburb after 8+ years of sitting... what a road trip that was.

Needless to say, we have some work ahead: drain tank, clean jets & carb (remember those?), fluids, pull some 13" tires out of thin air(may be harder than we think - appreciate any hints on a local supplier), fix exhaust, etc. etc.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again with the next gen on board!

Will be reaching out for tips on Sunday and hoping to have things in order by the following.

- Peter Z (w sons Jonathan & Christian), w critical support team of brother Chris and the infamous Carl B.

(someone share how to post pics pls)

Hey that's cool are you saying the "Fat guys" racing team might be back?

It will be great to see you Pete and I think a Fiesta might work well but you never know some of the same guys are racing from when you guys went away and they all got faster every year in the modified classes. So some of the cars are really potent. If your going to run in Street Legal class then I think the Fiesta could do well its light and with good tires and a good driver it could be very competitive. Either way it will be great to have you back out on the ice!

Interesting: according to NADA that vintage Fiesta weighed less than 1700 lbs.
There used to be lots of speed parts for that engine.

Thx Dave.
Yup, the FAT GUYS are back (even more so the first part)
Turning the wheel over to the boys is going to be tough...

Dick, would definitely like to weigh in on what we make out to be a ~ '79 XR2 model w Detroit area SCCA laps on it (all asphalt) from decades past

Stock carb looks like it will be a serious hindrance but will have to deal for now ($, time, etc). The cage fab went all out, surpassing SCCA tech (way over IMO) so may be over 2k lbs easy.

But, who cares, just need tires and lots of barn find prep. Hope this rain is creating a base for some smooth, asphalt like sailing...
