It was all over the news after the flood.
It is hard to belive that the water was that high that it literally floated the bridge off it's supports.
Much of the debris from the bridge has been recovered and there are thoughts of some sort of restoation.

Vermont's Ken Snowman will be bringing his gas class "FrankenJetta" out this weekend in Montreal. He is leaving early on Friday to give himself plenty of extra time at the border crossing!

He's been working on optimizing the profile of his boat tail, and plans to have some paint on it before the weekend.

Event organizer Jeff Dungen added a chin spoiler to his 20 valve JDM Toyota Levin Apex GT.

Yeah I wish I was spending my time ecomodding the car, but I was worried about the front suspension collapsing on the rougher sections of the rally. And I rather think it would have!

I don't feel like taking the train home. emoticon

Competition in the gas class will be very tough this year. Darin Cosgrove of Ecomodder, will be entering his 2000 Honda Insight in the gasoline class.

Huh you say? Why is it not in the hybrid class? It is because he bought the car cheaply with a bad hybrid battery. All of the hybrid functions aren't working so the car is a very efficient gas class car with it's lean burn engine, light curb weight, and superior aerodynamics. Darin has achieved 85 mpg with it. This rally is challenging though, and top mpg numbers are not achievable when you're rushing up steep hills to stay on time.

Wow, for some reason I really thought that this was this past weekend and I was unable to make it.... hmmm...

Dave, I don't see anything on their flyer about preregistration, I also don't see anything about a start time or any times.

Is it ok to show up day of race and register then or is there a way to preregister? Also do you know when the race starts, I would want to get there early if coming from out of town.

And lastly, do you just need a safety triangle somewhere in the car or "Your safety triangle must be at hand's reach. " So like by the hand brake or something?

Sorry about the questions, I know you did not organize this but was hoping you'd have some insight since you went last year.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris. Glad to see the interest!

I corrected the event page link here. The event registration start time is at a very comfortable 11:00 am. The event starts at noon. The triangle won't be necessary for this event. Yes you can simply show up the morning of the event if you wish, but you can also pre-register here.

What would you be bringing?

Mike,

Are you going to go to the F1 race? You really should go once. IT is unbelievable how fast and how good they sound.

Hi Mark, it is up in the air whether we will go the next day. I'll go with the flow of what the others in the group will do. I know that we plan to enjoy the evening street festival in old Montreal again this year, with the live bands, fireworks, and classic cars on display. Should be a bunch of Teslas and EV's as well. From what I've seen the past two years, people in the city of Montreal pay much more for gas than we do, so many of them are economy minded. Fuel efficient cars are everywhere.

The last [and only] time I've ever been to a GP race was in Montreal in back '89!

Here is a video by Jeff Dungen taken at the 2010 event. There is some good in car footage of Jeff's Levin during some high paced coasts.

Image

I had won overall in my '93 SE-R at 57.74 mpg. At the end of the video Jeff asks me if the car is stock and I had to stop and think about it, because my other '91 is all gutted and lightened. But other than an ignition cut switch, and synthetic oils, there wasn't anything else done my full weight '93.

I was there in '89. I sat in bleachers 31, the right left kink before the hairpin. It rained off and on that day. Lots of action. When a F1 car hits the grass, they seem to gain 50 MPH.
