Re: BIGGEST SUMMER ENDURO THIS YEAR! 8-17-07 MALTA ($1007.10 payoff)

I personally can't say that it was 55 when I luckly took the lead. I'm going by spectators who surrounded me at the end screaming, "You lead for like 3/4 of the race what happened?" A few of them said 55 and my freinds said the same. I know for a fact on lap mid 60ish I started paying attention when I noticed the flagger was pointing at me. Lap 70,80,90 and 100 was all Non Turbo Automatic POS SAAB.

Mike this was my fourth and only finish. I've always been takin out with right front flats, on the red flags they were actually picking up mufflers and bumpers which I've never seen before. Thank you track officals.

P.S. That inside hole in turn 2 was crazy. You'll never experience that in any other form of racing.

Wow, I was under the assumption that your car was a turbo model.

I feel very lucky to have finished on my first try. I didn't know that track officials usually leave the junk out there. Nice work A-S speedway!

I was thinking the same thing. One of the most interesting parts of the race were those bottlenecks in the corners. They added that additional touch of danger that makes it all the more challenging. My Paseo handles brilliantly. I could fly by those obstacles at full speed and miss them by inches every time. I'm sure you were doing the same. How about that unique sound heard each time we buzzed those parked cars? Quite an experience indeed. I still feel bad for Tommy. Did you see how bad his car was hit in those pics? The whole damn rear frame is still connected to his rear bumper and is laying on the ground. emoticon

A few additional thoughts: It takes quite a bit of nerve to run these races. The one thing I was constantly concerned with was whether my tires were going down or not as I approached each corner. There is always that chance that you won't know it until it's too late. Especially the right front.

Another challenge is the antifreeze and/or oil spills. Always have to look for shiny spots. Wow, there is so much to look out for and quickly adjust to!

Thanks again for luring me out Tom. emoticon

Tommy really did it this time. I am still wearing a smile that won't go away. My wife told me to stop talking about the silly enduro races and not to mention it to her mother [who is here today]. She doesn't want her mother to think I am an irresponsible nut that runs in the banger races. emoticon

I just arranged to buy a used trans for my SE-R parts car - the one that was not meant to be anything but parts. It will take a lot of work to put it back together but I really want to be out there with a SR20DE for power. The Toyota is a great reliable car for this type of racing, but the SE-R has 40% more power and a limited slip.

The car to beat out there was Eric's Saab and the Acura Integra [that won].

Anyone know when and where the next enduro race is? I can't make the September 14th race at Malta, and all I could find at Lebanon Valley was one late in the season on November 24th. Does Glen Ridge run them?

Mikey...Holy Mackeral...
Brewerton has 3 more ENDURO's this year. They typically only have 12-15 cars show up at the most lately. You would like them. There is even one on TIRED IRON REPAIR night at the track on August 31 .. check out the schedule at www.brewertonspeedway.com. They ate fun!!!!

Only 12 to 15 cars?

What do they pay to win? emoticon

Normally I wouldn't care, but Brewerton will cost me about $100 worth of gas to get there and back.

Wish I could have been there sounds like fun. Maybe the old Honda would be good at Halloween Havoc.

I just checked our Brewerton's website. I can see now why they only get 12 to 15 cars for an enduro. In my opinion, it's the same reason we get 40 SL cars and fewer and fewer Menard cars every year. Brewerton requires a full cage. Additionally, they require Nascar style side bars with uprights for both drivers and passenger sides, an aluminum seat, five point harness, fuel cell [depending on where the stock tank is located], window net, etc. At this rate, you have built a complete race car so why run it in the enduro class?

This is why A-S gets over 100 cars. Prep and expense is minimal. No cage, no harnesses, no net, just weld the doors shut and remove the mirrors and side glass. Scary, but cheap and easy.
